What was SSgt Sather's job in the military?

SSgt Sather served as a Combat Controller, which is a highly specialized position within the Air Force. Combat Controllers are tasked with a range of responsibilities, including providing air traffic control in combat zones, coordinating air support for ground troops, and assisting in the execution of special operations missions. This role requires extensive training, not only in air traffic control but also in other skills such as parachuting, language proficiency, and emergency medical training. The selection and training process for becoming a Combat Controller is rigorous, reflecting the critical nature of their duties in supporting joint forces and ensuring successful mission outcomes in challenging environments. The other choices represent different roles within the military that do not align with SSgt Sather's job. Paratroopers primarily focus on aerial troop delivery and airborne operations, pilots operate aircraft but do not specifically engage in the ground support coordination that Combat Controllers do, and Intelligence Officers focus on gathering and analyzing information rather than executing ground operations. Therefore, the position of Combat Controller best fits the description of SSgt Sather's military role.
